Raiders appoint new Head Coach
It's been a busy week at Rom Valley Way. Tuesday night saw the management team watching new import Darius Pliskauskas and holding a late night meeting to discuss the vacant Head Coach position.
By Wednesday morning, we were also able to agree a deal with Erskine Douglas to coach the Raiders for the rest of the season - and with immediate effect. Erskine had originally agreed to act as caretaker coach while we sifted through the applications and looked for a permanent appointment. We had interest from North America, mainland Europe and several from the UK but in the end we realised we might be looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Erskine's credentials as one of the best qualified coaches in the UK are well established - he is Head of Coaching for the EIHA - as is his relationship with Romford Raiders which goes back to our very first goal in our very first game - that was him. Better still, he knows us, knows this place and knows the team. He's had success here before and we still have one clear ambition - making the play-offs. It's difficult but not impossible and we hope that these changes, the additions of Darius and Tyrone and maybe some more to come will move us closer to our goal.
The rest of the season starts now, Welcome back Erskine.
