Slough Postponed game rearranged

The Raiders management are pleased to advise that the game vs Slough, postponed on 20th December has now been re-arranged.

Many thanks to the Rink Management, Junior System and Slough Jets who have worked with the Raiders to secure ice time on Wednesday 24th February.

The game will face off at 7-30 pm and doors will open, as usual, 45 minutes before face off, at 6-45 pm.

We are also delighted that there will be the extra attraction of a operational bar on the evening, just in case a mid week fix of ice hockey is not enough to drag you away from the TV for the evening.

Netminder news

Joe Myers has asked to be released from his contract with Romford Raiders.

"Joe is a great lad but he would admit he's been struggling of late", said a Raiders' spokesman. "He has a chance to take up a full time employment opportunity back home in Wales so, coupled with the addition of Charlie Kaylor to the roster and the gradual return to fitness of Euan King, we think it's only fair to abide by Joe's wishes. We fully expect him to continue playing the game he loves and know that several clubs are interested in taking him on."

Get the bunting out, there's a home-coming on the horizon

The Raiders are delighted to announce that we have signed not one, but two "Romford Boys" who will play in this weekend's double header vs Sheffield Scimitars.

Player News

Andrew Munroe has decided to leave the Raiders and has played his last game for the club. "We hoped he would change his mind and complete the season with us but Munsie has decided his future lies elsewhere", said a Raiders' spokesman "He has never given less than 100% in his time here and we wish him well."

This is set to start the ball rolling with more player announcements over the next couple of days so be sure to check back here - or preferably in person at RVW this weekend - as the re-vitalised Raiders look to take the points from Sheffield after two previous close encounters.

Raiders appoint new Head Coach

It's been a busy week at Rom Valley Way. Tuesday night saw the management team watching new import Darius Pliskauskas and holding a late night meeting to discuss the vacant Head Coach position.

'Miller Time' again as Ty hits 10.

For the 10th successive season, Tyrone Miller is back at Rom Valley Way after Romford Raiders agreed the transfer of the 27 year old defenceman's registration from Basingstoke Bison.

“We’ve always kept in touch with Tyrone and were talking to him about a return to Romford some weeks back," said a Raiders' spokesman. "Our conversations still needed a few wrinkles to be ironed out when, unfortunately for us, Basingstoke made Ty a very good offer and we could easily understand why he accepted.

New import in the Gold and Blue

Romford Raiders are delighted to have agreed terms with Elite League forward Darius Pliskauskas. The 29 year old Lithuanian trained at Rom Valley Way last night and, provided registration processes can be completed in time, will make his Romford debut on Saturday at Peterborough.

Romford Hockey "festival"

The Raiders management would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to a number of people and groups for tonights "game" at RVW.

To the Fury management and players that stepped forward at such short notice.
To the junior team managers and their players for providing us with a great insight into the talent that is coming through the system.
To the youngsters who provided some great entertainment in between the Raiders / Fury periods.
To the Raiders match night staff who went about business as usual, despite some arduous travelling arrangements.

Update for Sunday 10th January----updated 8am 10th Jan

The Raiders management are delighted to be able to confirm that tomorrow's "Festival of Romford Hockey" will now go ahead.

The Raiders and Fury are to play a challenge game and the under 10's, 12's and 14's will also be playing during the evening. Those that enjoyed the "whites vs blues" three weekends ago are sure to enjoy tommorow's games as well.

Entry will be half usual price so that will be £5 for adults and £3 for under 16's. Season tickets will be valid for this and the eventual game against Manchester.
