MD and Basher sign up

Michael ‘MD’ Timms, one of the most popular Romford Raiders of recent times, has signed up for his third season in the Gold and Blue.

Timmsy, still one of the best skaters and stick handlers on the roster, was very happy to rejoin the Raiders’ organisation and Coach Hammill was equally happy to get him back on board for the new campaign.

Dallas comes to Romford.

Romford Raiders are delighted to announce the capture of Canadian centre, Dallas Costanzo.

Costanzo has been courted over the past few weeks by fellow British Columbian, Jesse Hammill, and with terms now agreed Raiders are in the happy position of confirming their first import forward.

Two more back on board

Romford Raiders have agreed terms with 'Heart of Romford' winner and 2008/9 Coach's Player of the Year, Danny Cox. Danny made a huge impression on the RVW faithful last season, not least for his willingness to stick up for his team mates, but his defensive prowess is the prime reason for his return.

Another piece in the jigsaw

The Romford Raiders are delighted to announce that one of Sunday evening's most vital elements has agreed to return.

Our Game Night Announcer, Ian Houghton, has agreed to bring his own microphone again for another season down at Rom Valley Way. For those that are not aware, we will be sharing Ian with his normal job as an actor and whilst he rehearses for Eastenders, The Bourne Identity or some such similar blockbuster he will no doubt be picking up tips for his more difficult role in block 3 1/2.

Raiders team building continues

Romford Raiders have confirmed the addition of two more British defenceman to the 2009/10 roster.

Returning to Romford after a year away is 24 year-old Adam Copland, voted 'Defenceman of the Year' by Invicta Dynamos last season. Copland came through the junior development programme at Gillingham before spending two years playing Junior A in Canada. On his return to the UK, Adam was snapped up by erstwhile Elite League Basingstoke Bison and made his Romford debut the following season.

Raiders announce their first "import" of the new season.

Having already announced the signing of six uk based players for the coming year, Raiders were pleased to announce the first of their non EIHA trained players, and it is a familiar name.

"Michal Palik makes a welcome return to the Raiders number 3 shirt this season and we cant wait to see more of the form that saw him become one of the stand out imports of last seasons campaign", said a Raiders' spokesman.

Long term sponsor signs up for another season

This week we are delighted to announce that long term sponsors Actual removals will again be advertising with the Raiders. Actual removals have been a fixture for several years on the team jerseys, player helmets and a rink side board and clearly they find some benefit from the long running relationship.

All change between the pipes

Romford Raiders have declared an ‘all change’ netminder policy with the capture of two highly regarded goalies who are expected to create genuine competition for the starter’s slot.

Euan King joins the Raiders from treble-winning Peterborough Phantoms. Now 20 years old but an English international since the age of 13 and a GB junior cap, King has spent his whole career at Bretton but sees this as a great opportunity to further develop his profile and establish himself as a natural starter.

New Romford Raiders Website

Welcome to the new Romford Raiders website. As everything has happened so quickly, it is still very limited in the information available, but we will be adding everything you could need to know, over the next few weeks.

Please bear with us, as we get the site fully functional.

And then there were four

Whilst we are sure you are all out enjoying the arrival of the summer, barbeque smoking and beer in hand, excuse us whilst we drag you back to the PC for a quick update. It will be worth the interruption.

Hot on the heels of the front line trio Danny McCotton, Raiders are delighted to announce the capture of another player with “treble” connections. A key part of last years treble winning Peterborough team, Andy Munroe will this year be pulling on the Gold and Blue and we are thrilled about it.
